Supa Dam is a popular attraction of Dandeli which is located at a distance of 25 Kms from Dandeli bus stand . The Dam was built by Hindustan steel works construction Limited (HSCL). The name of the Dam is derived from the word “suparulu” which means God of Forests. It is a perfect place for family picnic. A hydroelectricity plant with the beauty of river Kali is mesmerizing. Boating can also be enjoyed at this place. It is build across river Kali in the north canara district of Karnataka state situated at Joida taluk of Uttara Kannada district. The Power house of the Supa Dam Dandeli has two electricity generators of 50 MW each. The bank is operated by Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) and the electricity generated through this dam is supplied to different parts of Karnataka. Dandeli’s Supa Dam was commissioned in 1985. You may also visit Dandeli wildlife sanctuary which is near to this place. This is a popular attraction in Ganesh Gudi for the tourists. The Dam manages the water of Kali river to provide irrigation facility to the surrounding areas.
